Our environment

PMA is committed to responsible growth, efficient use of resources and the continual reduction of carbon emissions from our own operations.

A practical environmental policy for PMA

Process Measurement & Analysis Ltd recognises that our activities, products, purchasing decisions and travel all have an environmental impact. We are committed to understanding that impact and reducing it wherever practical.

Our approach is based on prevention, measurement and continual improvement. We aim to meet all applicable environmental obligations, use energy and materials efficiently, prevent pollution and involve our employees and suppliers in delivering better environmental performance.

Focused on the impacts we can control

We will develop achievable improvement actions from reliable information rather than make unsupported claims. These six priorities guide our environmental planning and day-to-day decisions.

Reduce carbon emissions

Measure the main sources of operational emissions—including electricity, heating, business travel and deliveries—then prioritise practical reductions.

Improve energy efficiency

Reduce avoidable energy use, maintain equipment efficiently and consider lower-carbon or renewable-energy options when contracts and systems are reviewed.

Prevent waste and pollution

Avoid unnecessary materials, reuse and recycle wherever possible, manage waste responsibly and maintain controls that reduce the risk of spills or releases.

Purchase responsibly

Consider durability, packaging, transport distance and suppliers’ environmental performance alongside quality, safety and value.

Extend product life

Support maintainable, repairable equipment and the availability of technical guidance and replacement parts so products can remain useful for longer.

Build environmental awareness

Give employees clear responsibilities and encourage ideas that reduce energy use, materials, travel, waste and environmental risk.

Our approach to reducing operational emissions

Reducing carbon emissions is a continuing process. PMA’s priority is to build a reliable baseline, act on the main sources within our control and review progress so that each improvement informs the next.

01

Measure

Establish and maintain a clear picture of the energy, travel, transport and material use associated with our operations.

02

Prioritise

Concentrate first on the sources where PMA can make a meaningful, practical and lasting reduction.

03

Reduce

Implement improvements through efficiency, better planning, lower-impact alternatives and employee participation.

04

Review

Check progress regularly, learn from results and update objectives as better information and options become available.

What responsible operation looks like at PMA

Our environmental policy is implemented through everyday decisions across purchasing, facilities, engineering, travel, logistics and waste management.

  • Review energy consumption and eliminate unnecessary heating, lighting and equipment use.
  • Use remote meetings and technical support where they can avoid unnecessary travel without reducing service quality.
  • Plan purchasing and deliveries efficiently, consolidating shipments where practical.
  • Reduce avoidable packaging and favour reusable, recyclable or recycled materials where suitable.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities to support efficient operation and a long working life.
  • Separate recyclable waste and use authorised waste contractors for controlled disposal.
  • Include environmental considerations when evaluating significant suppliers and purchases.

Supporting longer service life and safer processes

PMA supports customers with application guidance, maintenance information and replacement-part enquiries to help equipment remain effective for longer. Extending useful product life can reduce avoidable replacement, material demand and waste.

For liquid-separation duties, the Belfield Valve can also help operators reduce the risk of accidental discharge of oil, solvents or chemicals into effluent systems. Its automatic mechanical operation requires no electrical supply at the valve.

Continual improvement

Environmental performance is reviewed as part of normal management activity. Objectives and actions are updated when impacts, obligations, technology or operating conditions change.

Accountability and continual improvement

PMA’s management is responsible for maintaining this policy and ensuring that appropriate resources and responsibilities are in place. Employees are expected to follow relevant procedures, prevent pollution and identify opportunities to improve environmental performance.

We will review this policy periodically and whenever there is a significant change to our activities or environmental impacts. Our sustainability goals will evolve as measurement improves and new reduction opportunities become practical.
